Our organization is made up of volunteers and all help is welcome. For those who are uncomfortable sitting with patients we have other jobs such as driving, shopping, and handyman chores.
If you wish to contribute in this way it is not necessary for you to take the hospice training.
All volunteers who wish to work with patients must complete the hospice volunteer training program (see Announcements for time and place). This includes applicants who wish to sit with patients who are in ill health as well as those who are dying.
The training gives an in-depth understanding of health care issues and procedures as well as family dynamics. Taking the training is also a good way to see if this is work that you might enjoy.
Due to the confidental and intimate nature of our work all volunteer applicants must be screened. If you wish to become a volunteer please fill out the Volunteer Application form.
If you have any questions about the training or volunteering with BHHF, please contact our Training Coordinator, Bev Stearns at 6638-7215.
